A collection of illustrations from days spent people-watching during my semester abroad, Gente del Sole began as a juxtaposition of my artistic vulnerabilities and
evolved into a landscape of my creative confidence
. As photo-realistic still life illustration was my primary visual medium during high school,
my approach to
Gente del Sole
challenged me to embrace quick, ink-based field sketching and portraiture. Conversely, my selection of justified, serif typography encouraged the translation of my former
illustrative practice’s technicality into my design practice. Pushing for the adoption of my creative anxieties,
Gente del Sole balances playfulness and detail, bolstered by narrative writing about moments spent across France and Italy.
